Description

In 2002, SFC Engineering Partnership, Inc., (SFC) began consulting with Star Island Corporation (SIC) to bring the island facilities into compliance with the NH State Fire Code. Initially, SFC worked with SIC to evaluate the 29 island buildings and prepare a plan of action to correct deficiencies noted during an assessment of the island. Items such as egress systems, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting and exit signage were all addressed.

Since 2002, SFC has been engaged by SIC to provide fire protection engineering and general fire and life safety code consulting for all projects that are completed on the island. A reevaluation of the island was completed in 2007 to determine a current status of facility upgrades and reassess upgrade priorities. SFC serves as a resource for SIC staff for consultation regarding construction projects, operational policies and master planning for capital improvements to island buildings. SFC also serves as an intermediary between Island managers and the local fire department, helping to bridge the gap between regulating authorities and facility managers.
